Posts payments to practice management system (live checks within 24 hours, Online Credit Card, Payments the next business day, EFT deposits within 72 hours)
Records batch totals with date and initials on payment receipt spreadsheet.
Balances batches and runs transaction reports.
To verify if all EFT deposits and scanned checks have been posted by month end.
To communicate and document payment denials in the practice management system.To the appropriate biling representative in a timely manner.
Identifies payments not paid at the allowed/contracted amount and communicate this to the appropriate billing representative – AR and/or Director.
Batches patient statements electronically on a weekly basis.
Accurately posting payments received from insurance companies, patients, or other sources into the billing system.
Reconcile payments with corresponding claims and ensure proper allocation to patient accounts.
Review and interpret Explanation of Benefits (EOB) or Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA) documents received from insurance companies.
Identify and resolve discrepancies between the remittance advice and billed amounts.
Research and resolve any payment posting errors or issues, including denials, underpayments, or overpayments.
Apply appropriate adjustments, write-offs, or refunds as necessary.
Generate and distribute reports on payment posting activities, reimbursement trends, and outstanding balances.
Collaborate with the billing team to resolve payment-related inquiries, discrepancies, or appeals.
Stay updated with insurance regulations, payment policies, and industry best practices.. Provide excellent customer service to patients, insurance companies, and internal teams regarding payment-related inquiries or concernsCreate invoices for attorney fees and communicate with physician office upon receipt of payment.
